Speaking & Teaching

As a life-long learner, Neshia relishes opportunities to gather with communities and be a part of broadening their understanding of end-of-life planning, death and grief. Informed by her background as a licensed mental health counselor (with a special focus on trauma, grief and cultural identity) and a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion trainer, Neshia is skilled at listening to what’s being said underneath the words and helping groups move from tense moments to deeper connections. From facilitating emotional family conversations about dying to leading workshops on grief in corporate spaces, Neshia would be honored to craft a learning experience that is right for you.

A Thoughtful Death offers Speaking & Teaching that focuses on:

  • Building death literacy, the practical knowledge to have an empowered death. This includes understanding the physical, emotional, relational and spiritual components of the dying process - for ourselves and others;

  • Uplifting culturally reverent, trauma-informed grief so that healthier ways of processing can provide healing - for ourselves and others;

  • And centering death as a way of honoring life, not as a method of spiritual or emotional bypassing but as an active practice that builds creative, equitable, sustainable sources of joy - for ourselves and others.
