Intentionalist is a local non-profit that the highlights small businesses that help make our community vibrant and connected. They encourage people to spend like it matters and strive to make “it easy to find and support local small businesses and the diverse people behind them through everyday decisions about where we eat, drink, and shop.”
For a second year in a row, Intentionalist partnered with BECU to give out small business awards and this time . . . I was a finalist! Thank you for the people who nominated and supported me for the Intentionalist Award’s Rookie of the Year! This was an amazing opportunity to teach more people about deathcare and getting to be recognized for my work feels like a win in and of itself.
A Thoughtful Death did not win (but Coffee Tab did and their story and mission is incredible!) but it was an incredible evening. Over 400 small businesses were nominated for the awards this year so my little deathcare practice becoming a finalist is an affirmation that I really needed. It was such an honor to be surrounded by so many small business owners who are trying to make a difference in our communities through our unique gifts and services. The number of Black women-owned businesses being recognized was a particular highlight for me - we out here, fam! Thank you for helping us keep living our dreams.
